We are a community action group of like-minded people who care about our local environment. We aim to share knowledge about sustainable living and permaculture whilst promoting community cohesion. We are a Transition Town which is a grassroot movement, growing since 2005 across the globe. Transition Towns are about communities coming together to create solutions for the local challenges they face. They seek to nurture a caring culture, one focused on connection with self, others and nature. By doing this, Towns increase self-sufficiency an resilience to reduce the potential effects of climate destruction and economic instability. Visit our Transition Town page to find out more.

In our resources pages, you can find tips on how to live more sustainably, healthy recipes using ingredients you can grown yourself, useful websites and local resources including places to visit. You will also find a whole section about recycling including downloadable and printable guides for the Amber Valley and Erewash areas.

Currently our main project is the Shipley Community Garden on Hassock Lane. We first started work on the 1.5 acre field in September 2019 and in a very short period of time, the disused field was transformed into a productive, working Community Garden, which is all down to the hard work from our members and volunteers and the financial support whether that be from grants or donations from the community. Check out our Community Garden page for more information.

We are a very friendly group all with different strengths and skills, so why not come along to one of our meetings, follow us on our Facebook page and find out more about how you can get involved here. Why not volunteer at the Community Garden and follow the Garden’s Facebook page.
